Background info:
We have been watching the old "Little House on the Prairie" series with the boys for the past few months. We are now onto season 2 and one of the episodes is about a neighbor to the Ingalls family that is a single dad and an alcoholic and he hurts his son. It's the story about how Charles helps this man get clean and sober and helps the boy out of a bad and hurtful situation.
Fast-forward to tonight at dinner. We had a shrimp & asparagus pasta dish that Clint opened a bottle of Riesling to go with. (The kids aren't used to this as we have never had wine with a meal here before).
As Clint was opening the bottle Micah says:
"You shouldn't drink wine"
We say, "Why not, Micah"
Micah says "It will make you do bad things to your sons"
Yeah - we have to do some explaining on reality versus fiction! :)

That is hilarious! I totally remember that LHOTP episode. I remember thinking that alcohol was SO NAUGHTY. Hee hee hee :)
The lasagna turned out great...even with my empty pantry substitutions! JUDE even ate it. That's a ringing endorsement right there.
What happened then? Did he put the wine away or tell Micah about Jesus's 1st miricle at the wedding? Poor kid. So many mixed messages. Points to him though for saying what was on his mind so you all could discuss it!!
Jenn - we had a talk about how just one glass is ok but to dirnk too much of it is not what Jesus wants for us. It makes people make bad choices. We talked about how it is a choice to drink and how you need to be responsible for your actions and choices...just like he is for the choices he makes in his 4 yr old world. I think he understood...at least he didn't hide from us the rest of the night cowering in fear :)
