Adoption is a journey.

Adoption is a choice.

Adoption is a calling.

This journey, this choice and this calling are one that has taken hold of our hearts and our family. We are humbled to be in the place, excited to see what God has in store and a little nervous about how it will all come together. We wouldn't be honest if we didn't acknowledge all of the emotions that go into a decision like this.

I have always wanted to adopt, always been overcome with compassion when I think of all the kids out there who do not have parents. When I see pictures, hear stories...my heart aches. I think the hardest part of this journey will be leaving the orphanage with just one! :)

We began investigating agencies mid summer and decided to proceed with Holt International. We are beginning the home study process and plan to have our dossier ready when that is complete. From there...WE WAIT....we wait for our referral..wait for our court date...and wait for the green light to travel.

The waiting will be the hardest. Knowing our little girl is there waiting for us will be hard...I'm sure that buying an abundance of girl clothes will really help the wait to go by quicker!! :) (just kidding, honey..after this we can't afford the girl clothes! )

So...life has been full. Very good, but full. Homeschooling is going well. I'm planning to post more on that. I've been holding back on blogging b/c many activities, time spent has been going to adoption paperwork...we just wanted to wait to tell our families before we went "global" with the whole thing.

We'd love your prayers...we say thank you to those who have already written "letters of love" for us, those who have supported us wholeheartedly from the beginning (even if they think we are crazy to have 4 kids!).

Ethiopia has a new place in our hearts....this is so much more than us adopting...this is about our kids knowing how God has blessed us so much....WAY more than we deserve..this is about us opening our hearts and our lives up....slowly but surely we are learning what it means to be content with what we have and open to what God has planned for us.
