We spent this last weekend going to Seattle for several reasons. Clint had a work thing he needed to do on Saturday afternoon and it gave us the chance to get away (with Levi) and to spend some time with family. We crashed and Shane & Joanie's apartment and they watched Levi while Clint & I went to the Mariner's game with my parents and Scott & Melissa. The Mariners lost but we had a great time together.
It was so fun to see Shane & Joanie's place and to catch up a bit with them and their newleywed life. As we drove home yesterday we were discussing how much life changes between 20-30. For us we got married at 20, finished college & graduate school, had our 3 kids in 6 years, moved to 3 different apartments then into our house, moved to Portland, Clint started his career, started making a life here and putting down roots, now have started the whole raising kids and grade school kid parenting stage. It's exciting yet scary how much kids know, want to know, & putting up the boundaries and perimeters for what they are allowed to do, say, go, etc is challenging.
Looking back, life seemed so simple when we were just married. We had no money so we didn't even think about buying anything. We didn't have kids so we were free to do as we pleased with our time. We had the stress of job, no money, and school related stuff. But looking now, I don't feel any more over or underwhelmed as I did at 20. Is it that we adapt to change and what comes at us so gradually that we can handle more? Is it because as we mature into adulthood you just physically, emotionally, spiritually can see the big picture more? Is it life experience that gives us a different perspective?
We never landed on any real answer just decided that we had things that made us worry at 20 and things that make us worry now...not more, just differently. What do you think?
