Nothing says “FUN” more than a trip to the ER!

Ha!

Yesterday was filled with excitement…not the good kind though. Bummer.

Micah and Chance were riding bike (see Jenni’s website for cute video). Micah took a spill, which initially seemed to be a run-of-the-mill kids bike crash – skinned knees, hands, couple of band-aids and you’re good to go. We quickly discovered that it was not. When he fell, he hit his head, broke the visor on his helmet and the plastic visor stabbed him in the the forehead, right above his eyebrow. It was deep, it was bloody, and he was in a lot of pain. helmet

I put pressure on it with my hand right away, Brian ran to get ice and a washcloth to put on it. Jenni put that on, I ran to get the van and drove up, Jenni got in the van (in her pajama pants)  :) in the seat holding his head to keep pressure on it and off we went to the dr.’s office. They took one look at him and sent us on to the ER. IMG00182

They put some numbing stuff on his wound and we waited for that to start working. He relaxed, watched some cartoons then the real “fun” started. The numerous shots to numb his forehead were just torturous to watch and have his get but they sewed him up in layers of stitches b/c the cut was so deep. He was a trooper. We made it out of there with 3 stickers, 2 suckers and a pretty banged up head and knee.

He’s be laying pretty low and it’s really starting bother him and be uncomfortable. All in all, we’re very thankful it wasn’t any worse and that his eye was spared in all of this.

His glasses…oh his glasses…we’re on week 2 of the glasses today. We’ve been in twice in the past 2 weeks to have them fixed b/c they were bent beyond wearing capabilities..now we’re going to have to replace at least on of the lenses, maybe frame damage too. All in just 2 weeks. smile. sigh.

Youch! So much for visors being a good idea, huh!? Glad it wasn't any worse and that he's on the mend.
